Four Kids Will Win a SEEDS Fishing Trip to Lake Oconee
Fishing guides Mark Smith and Doug Nelms have partnered to
host a SEEDS Fishing Day at Lake Oconee Friday, April 10 for
stripers and hybrids.
“We’ll launch at the dam, which is where the linesides stack
up in the spring,” said Mark. “We’ll go fish the buoy line
with live bait. We’ll probably fish some planers, flatlines
and downlines. One day they’ll hit downlines, the next day
flatlines. It just depends.”
The trip is for four SEEDS members and one parent each.
Parents and kids need to be at the Lawrence Shoals boat ramp
at 7 a.m., and the trip will last until about 12 p.m. Kids
will need to have the appropriate clothing, snacks and
drinks. Winners’ parents need a fishing license. Bring a
camera, too. This will likely be a fun day with lots of
catching going on.
“I love taking kids fishing,” said Mark....“There’s nothing
I enjoy more than when they hang into a fish that won’t come
in.”
Mark guides mostly on Oconee, but he will guide for stripers
on Lanier.
